Fantastic Family Fun on Maui
- Visit the beach. Play on the sand, swim, surf, snorkel, build sandcastles or check out the marine life in the tide pools. (Consult with the hotel concierge for the best beaches for children, whether they're looking for one that's safe and calm, or one with great wave action for surfing.)
- Take a car tour. Maui's size means every drive can be done within a reasonable length of time. Take day trips to Haleakala Crater, Hana, upcountry Maui and more.
- Get close to nature. Visit the Maui Ocean Center or the Hawaii Nature Center in Iao Valley, or go on a guided hike together through Maui's wilderness. Visitors can immerse themselves in an underwater world on the Atlantis Submarine, or aboard the Reefdancer, Maui's leader in underwater viewing for over 10 years, without even getting wet! Go on a whale watch. Become a junior ranger at Haleakala National Park.
- Learn about history. Explore Maui's colorful and ethnically diverse history at one or more of Maui's many charming museums and historical sites.
- Get out to the "country". Walk among thousands of tropical plants in botanical gardens, or visit the Maui Tropical Plantation.
- Get creative. Art classes for children are offered at such places as the Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center in Makawao.
- Swing around. Set up a family golf outing on one of Maui's beautiful courses or tennis complexes, or arrange to take a group lesson together.
- Go for a ride. On the "Sugar Cane Train", or horseback trek, or sunset ocean cruise.
- Sign up for a Kid's Program at the resort hotels, where youngsters typically learn to dance hula, string fresh flower leis, make Hawaiian arts and crafts, learn some Hawaiian words, play ancient Hawaiian games, take excursions, hunt for treasures on the beach and more.
